What is workers compensation?

Workers Compensation is a form of insurance that most employers in the State of Florida are required to carry.  It covers employees who have suffered a workplace injury or illness.  Work Comp is No-Fault insurance, which means that your are entitled to benefits even if you caused your own injury.

What are some common work injuries?

  • Slip and Fall
  • Walking into something
  • Falling Objects
  • Chemical Inhalation (toxic fumes)
  • Cuts and Lacerations
  • Repetitive Strain injury (lifting, bending over)
  • Machinery Mishaps
  • Electrocution
  • Transportation Accidents (car accidents, forklifts)

These are only a few of the most common workplace injuries.  If you were injured on the job and aren’t sure if you have a workers compensation claim, contact The Orlando Injury Law firm for a free evaluation of you injury claim.

What should I do after I’ve been injured?

If you have been injured on the job, the first thing to do is report it to your employer as soon as possible. If the injury or illness is not reported within a specific time frame, you may not qualify for workers compensation benefits.  The report of the injury should include the date, time, and circumstances of the injury.  Once the injury has been reported, the injured worker should seek medical treatment.

What damages can I recover?

The employer may be responsible for helping you with lost wages due to an accident on the job, as well as pay for any medical bills associated with the injury.  In some instances, a worker may be entitled to a lump sum settlement.

How much does a workers compensation lawyer cost?

Our workers comp attorneys work on a contingency fee basis.  That means that we don’t take a fee unless we make a recovery on your behalf.  If you’ve been injured at work our personal injury attorneys will walk you through and be there for every step of the process.  It’s our goal to make sure you receive the benefits and compensation you deserve and are entitled to under the law.
